- 2017-07-31 · How to make a website in 5 minutes · Medical Students Making an App - Episode 3 — recommendation: Ali's aim with a new project's website is to get something out the door as soon as possible without getting hung up on details such as the logo or colour scheme. — 00:02:13
- 2018-01-13 · My University Desk Setup - Cambridge Medical Student — recommendation: Ali recommends running a MacBook Pro in clamshell mode, lid closed and cabled to power and a monitor by HDMI, as ideal for students and anyone who moves around: unplug a few cables and go. — 00:00:00
- 2018-01-13 · My University Desk Setup - Cambridge Medical Student — recommendation: Ali says the Apple Magic Trackpad suits a MacBook because macOS relies on gestures, and that smooth trackpad scrolling alone is worth its price compared with a mouse's jumpy scrolling. — 00:02:16
- 2018-02-14 · Monthly Favourites #1 - Ali Abdaal — recommendation: Ali recommends Feedly, an RSS feed aggregator, for reading all the blogs you follow: instead of visiting each blog, you browse the new articles each day on your phone or iPad. — 00:03:59
- 2018-02-14 · Monthly Favourites #1 - Ali Abdaal — recommendation: Ali recommends the podcast Reasons to be Cheerful, hosted by Ed Miliband, former head of the Labour Party, and radio presenter Geoff Lloyd, whose banter makes it interesting listening. — 00:04:29
- 2018-03-07 · Monthly Favourites #2 - Ali Abdaal — Ali's productivity hack on the computer is to minimise the time between thinking he wants to do something and it being done. — 00:05:38
- 2018-03-07 · Monthly Favourites #2 - Ali Abdaal — recommendation: Ali uses the Mac launcher Alfred, or Spotlight, with equivalents on Windows, and has written about it on his blog aliabdaal.com. — 00:05:38
- 2018-03-07 · Monthly Favourites #2 - Ali Abdaal — Ali argues that since most university work, schoolwork and other work is done on a computer, working faster there raises overall efficiency and frees time for more interesting things. — 00:07:34
- 2018-05-29 · Live Stream - Hangout — Ali was anti-Apple until he could afford it, seeing no point in a £1,500 MacBook when Windows gave the same specs for under half; after his mother gave him a MacBook Air at university, he found its user experience worth the price, at least when Windows was not that good, and premium Apple products worth it for him. — 00:24:39
- 2018-06-02 · How I take notes on my iPad Pro in medical school - Cambridge University medical student — recommendation: Ali: For taking notes at school or university, Ali would probably recommend the 2018 iPad rather than the 2017 iPad Pro; most YouTube videos he has seen say its larger pencil-to-screen gap is noticeable only to digital artists. (hedged) — 00:03:50
- 2018-06-02 · How I take notes on my iPad Pro in medical school - Cambridge University medical student — recommendation: Ali calls Notability the best note-taking app for the iPad if your laptop or desktop is a Mac; it is not available on Windows, so Windows users should use something like OneNote. — 00:04:19
- 2018-06-02 · How I take notes on my iPad Pro in medical school - Cambridge University medical student — Ali thinks the iPad is worth having for that alone if it encourages you to take more and better notes about ideas and day-to-day life. — 00:12:50
- 2018-06-09 · iPad Pro vs iPad (2018) comparison for college / university students — Ali would still probably buy the iPad Pro himself: spreading its £300 extra cost over the three years he expects to use it, about 150 weeks, comes to about £2 a week. (hedged) — 00:05:52
- 2018-06-09 · iPad Pro vs iPad (2018) comparison for college / university students — Ali: To Ali the iPad Pro is an absolute joy to write on while the 2018 iPad is only functional, and that pleasure justifies the extra £2 a week for him personally. — 00:07:28
- 2018-06-09 · iPad Pro vs iPad (2018) comparison for college / university students — recommendation: Ali: For the vast majority of students, who are not trying to make money online with illustration and graphics, Ali highly recommends the 2018 iPad over the iPad Pro. — 00:09:25
- 2020-06-03 · All the Apps I Use in a Day — Ali writes in Roam Research while a piece of writing, an idea or a video plan is at an early stage, then moves it to Notion to write the final video script or the final version of an article or blog post. — 00:03:24
- 2020-06-03 · All the Apps I Use in a Day — Ali: After work Ali does the highlight he set for the day in Notion that morning; on days without one, he looks through Notion, Todoist, the sponsored-video schedule and the Skillshare class release schedule to pick the best use of the next few hours. — 00:06:19
- 2020-06-03 · All the Apps I Use in a Day — Ali: For "homework for life", which he started recently, Ali writes a few sentences each night about the moment of his day he could turn into a story or anecdote; he says this way of reflecting on his day is new to him and helps him. — 00:10:49
- 2020-06-07 · My Favorite Mechanical Keyboard - IQUnix F96 Coral — recommendation: Ali's verdict on the IQUnix F96: its sound sells it and makes it a joy to type on; it is expensive, but worth it to him because he uses his keyboard more than his mouse. — 00:01:48
- 2020-06-07 · My Favorite Mechanical Keyboard - IQUnix F96 Coral — Ali judges a keyboard's price by use: $500 is where it must be very compelling, but $250 is fine since his AirPods cost that and he uses his keyboard ten times as often. — 00:12:53
