2020

  • 2020-01-14 · My Favourite iPad Pro Apps (2020) — recommendation: Ali: Spotify is Ali's music streaming app of choice: he tried for about six months to switch exclusively to Apple Music, could not, and went back to Spotify. — 00:12:30
    • Ali's best-known Spotify playlist, Study With Me, has 23,700 followers and about a thousand instrumental tracks: classical, film and TV music such as Planet Earth, Hans Zimmer and Game of Thrones. — 00:13:00
    • Ali studies to instrumental tracks because songs without words do not interfere with word processing, which some evidence says is bad for learning, and they make studying much more fun. — 00:13:00
  • 2020-03-06 · Study With Me - Weekend on-call — Ali: In the hotel lounge Ali's cousin Jahanzaib, preparing for a postgraduate medical exam, works through practice questions while listening to Ali's study-with-me playlist on Spotify. — 00:05:46
  • 2020-03-13 · The KEY Study Techniques for Exam Success — recommendation: Ali: To focus, Ali puts his headphones on and plays his study-with-me playlist on Spotify of instrumental film music, such as Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. — 00:05:55

  • 2020-06-21 · A HUGE Unboxing Day — Ali: For his second writing session Ali switches to his own Study With Me playlist on Spotify, instrumental music from films, TV shows and video games. — 00:02:26
  • 2020-11-18 · Perfection - M1 MacBook Air (2020) Review — Ali's computer use is fairly basic: Chrome, Notion, Spotify and Slack, and only occasionally Final Cut, since he does not really edit his own videos. — 00:04:18
    • Ali says the fanless M1 MacBook Air did not come close to getting hot even with about 20 Chrome tabs, Slack, Spotify and a Zoom call open, unlike the early 2020 MacBook Air, which overheated and got noisy. — 00:04:47
  • 2020-12-01 · Tough Choice - M1 Macbook Air vs Macbook Pro — Ali is not a fan of the M1 MacBook Pro's Touch Bar and would rather have the MacBook Air's physical buttons for brightness, volume and Spotify playback; for him the Touch Bar is a reason not to buy the Pro. — 00:08:40
  • 2020-12-28 (said on 2020-12-15, implied) · How Much Money I Earn as a Doctor + YouTuber — Ali: Skillshare, like Netflix for online courses at about $10 a month, pays teachers like Spotify streaming royalties: a few cents per minute of premium watch time. — 00:34:16
